Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how NJJ Document Services, Inc. d/b/a The Comp Desk ("The Comp Desk," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use thecompdesk.com and related tools.

1. What We Collect

We collect limited technical information to operate and improve the site:

• Usage events: Which pages you visit, which calculators you use, and general interaction patterns (e.g., "AWW calculator opened," "result copied"). These events are logged without any identifier tied to you personally.
• Device information: Browser type, operating system, screen size, and language preference — collected in aggregate to ensure compatibility.
• Referring URL: The page you came from, if any, so we can understand how users find us.

We do not collect IP addresses in a persistent or identifiable form. Before any analytics data is transmitted, your IP address is anonymized and cannot be used to identify you.

2. What We Don't Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

• Your name, address, email address, or phone number (unless you contact us directly)
• Average weekly wages or other financial figures you enter into calculators
• Dates of accident, injury descriptions, or claim numbers
• Medical information, permanency findings, or doctor's reports
• Social Security numbers or any government-issued identifiers
• Payment information of any kind

All calculations are performed locally in your browser. No calculation input or output is transmitted to our servers.

3. Cookies & Analytics

We use PostHog for product analytics. Our PostHog configuration is set to:

• Strip all personally identifiable information before events are recorded
• Anonymize IP addresses — your IP is never stored
• Disable session recording and heatmaps
• Respect browser "Do Not Track" signals

PostHog may set a first-party cookie or use localStorage to distinguish unique sessions for aggregate counting purposes. This identifier is not linked to your identity and is not shared with third parties for advertising.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party ad networks. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers.

We store a tcd_analytics_accepted flag in your browser's localStorage when you dismiss our analytics notice. This flag does not contain personal information.

4. Third Parties

We use the following third-party services to operate this site:

• Vercel: Website hosting. Vercel may collect standard server logs (request timestamps, response codes, approximate geolocation at the country level) as part of normal CDN operation. See Vercel's privacy policy for details.
• Supabase: Authentication and account management for registered users. If you create an account, your email address is stored by Supabase and used only for authentication purposes.
• PostHog: Privacy-respecting product analytics, as described in Section 3 above.
• Apple App Store / Google Play Store: If you purchase a Pro subscription through the mobile app, payment is processed entirely by Apple or Google. We do not collect or store payment card information.
• Google Fonts: Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log the request. If you prefer, you can block Google Fonts via your browser or a content blocker.

We do not sell or share your information with any third party except as described above or as required by law.

5. Data Retention

Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 24 months for trend analysis, after which they are deleted or further aggregated.

If you have an account, your account data (email address, subscription status) is retained for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by emailing privacy@thecompdesk.com or by using the account deletion feature at Delete My Account.

We do not retain any calculator inputs or outputs on our servers, because we never receive them.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, including the right to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you. Because we collect very little identifiable information, most requests can be satisfied quickly.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@thecompdesk.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Residents of New York and California may have additional rights under applicable state privacy law.

7. Children's Privacy

The Comp Desk is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@thecompdesk.com and we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted to this page with an updated "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email. Continued use of this site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
